Privacy policy
LAST UPDATED AUGUST 2026
We collect as little as we can and sell none of it. This page explains what we hold, why we hold it, and how to get it removed.
What we collect
Order data: your email address, the titles you bought, order totals, and download activity. This is what makes receipts and re-downloads possible.
Account data, if you create an account: your email address, an optional display name, and your newsletter preference.
Messages: anything you send through the contact form or a review submission, along with the email address you gave.
Basic technical data: server logs and aggregate counts such as how often a paperback link is clicked. We do not run advertising trackers or sell profiles.
Why we hold it
To deliver what you bought, to answer your messages, to keep your library available, and to meet accounting obligations. Newsletter email is sent only if you opted in, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.
Who processes it
Stripe processes payments; we never receive your card number. Lulu handles paperback orders under its own privacy policy. Our hosting and database run on infrastructure providers acting as processors under contract, and transactional email is sent through our email provider.
Cookies
We use functional storage only: a cart held in your browser, and a session token if you sign in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set.
Retention
Order records are kept as long as required for accounting and for your library to work. Contact messages are kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Delete your account and we remove your profile and detach your orders from your identity, keeping only the anonymised financial record we are obliged to keep.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Account holders can update details and delete their account from the settings tab. For anything else, write to privacy@books4books.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
